You, me

We were at a deli this weekend eating some lunch, and Zoe had a bagel with cream cheese.  She ate all the cream cheese off one piece and when she was done she threw it behind her (we were sitting in the corner so no big deal).

Karen: Did you do that?

Zoe: No.

Karen: Well then who did?

Zoe: Me…

More singing

Today we sang quite a lot.  This morning while we were driving around we sang Fre’re Jacque and The Itsy Bitsy Spider over and over again.  Zoe had so much fun doing that, we sang both songs at nap time AND at bed time.  Then at bed I usually sing “Long, long time ago” which is just the first verse of American Pie (Don McClean).  I said, “Now I’ll sing Long long time ago.”  Then Zoe started singing it!  Except when I wasn’t singing she stopped and said, “Mommy, sing it!”  So we both sang the ENTIRE first verse of American Pie.  It was SO CUTE.

Here are a couple of the pictures resulting from “working” this morning on Daddy’s computer.

Work

This morning before daycare we were dancing around the house. Then Zoe saw Daddy’s computer on the coffee table. She pulled up her little chair and said, “I’m going to work, can you open it?” (The laptop was closed). Then she and Daddy played with the built-in camera for a few minutes and took some pretty funny pictures!

Doctor Zoe

We all have colds right now at my house. And this morning before “school” Zoe was giving Daddy a checkup with her doctor kit. She took his temperature and said her obligatory “26 pounds” (what she weighed last time we weighed her, I don’t know why she remembers it but she always says it when something has numbers on it). A few minutes later Daddy coughed and said something like, “I’m still sick.” And Zoe said, “No, Daddy, you’re not sick! I gave you a checkup!”

Butterflies

A story relayed to me by my husband:

Zoe: I want to fly up in the sky!
Danny: Like an airplane?
Zoe: Like a butterfly!
Danny: How do butterflies fly?
Zoe: Like this! (flaps arms) They flap their hands!

Singing

Last night my daughter and I sang a rousing rendition of Fre’re Jacques at bedtime. I had no idea she knew all the words! Right now it’s her favorite song and she wants to sing it several times before being tucked in.

Hello again blogosphere.

I’m not particularly interested in keeping up with a certain theme here on this blog.  I haven’t written a single post in a very long time.  Now I feel the need to chronicle some of the cute and funny and outlandish things my daughter does.  So, I will be changing the general purpose of my blog, as I said in my title.  Now I will write about family things, kid, things, funny things, sad things, whatever things do come up that I feel I should record somewhere for myself or for posterity.

My doctor referred me to a physical therapist for my back pain, and I went on Friday for the first time.  He was a super nice guy, and it was a good visit overall.  He checked me over first and listened to my story, which I’m beginning to feel like I’ve told over and over again.  He did have some interesting things to add to my diagnosis.

I have both SI joint problems and sciatica!  My SI joint has “too much mobility”.  Which in turn causes strain on my low back, possibly causing a tear in a disc, which causes my sciatica.  Interesting.  Apparently, sciatica is fairly easy to remedy with physical therapy.  SI joint problems are not.  But we’re working on it.  I have my exercises.  I’m doing them diligently.  I’m going back on Wednesday.

An actual diagnosis

I went to the doctor today and talked to him about my back pain, which I had self-diagnosed as sciatica, and posted about before.  He said it sounds like textbook sciatica.  Not bad enough to warrant an MRI, but he’s sending me to a physical therapist, which I’m really happy about.  Hopefully with some physical therapy, pilates, yoga and care I will get better.
